Privacy Policy

Home Server Backup is a privately operated, non-commercial integration for backing up the operator's files to the operator's Google Drive account. This policy describes its intended data handling.

Google information and access

With the operator's consent, the application uses Google's OAuth 2.0 authorisation to permit Rclone to create, list, read, update and delete the Google Drive backup objects it manages. It is designed to request the drive.file scope, which is limited to files created or opened through the application. It does not need access to unrelated personal Drive documents.

How data is used

The sole purpose of Google Drive access is to upload, retrieve, verify and maintain encrypted backup repository objects for backup and restore operations. The system does not use Google user data for advertising, profiling or unrelated analytics.

Encryption and storage

Restic encrypts backup contents and repository metadata locally before transfer. Google Drive stores encrypted repository data and may still observe ordinary cloud-storage information such as object sizes and modification times. The Restic repository password is separate from Google OAuth credentials and is not transmitted to this website.

OAuth tokens and local backup configuration are intended to remain on the operator's private backup computer. This informational website does not collect backup files, receive OAuth tokens or provide access to the backup repository.

Sharing and service providers

Encrypted backup objects are stored using Google Drive. This informational website is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process ordinary web-request information to deliver the pages. No Google user data is sold or shared with advertisers.

Retention and deletion

Backup retention is controlled by the operator's Restic retention configuration. The operator can remove backup objects from Google Drive and revoke the application's access from the Google Account's third-party connection settings.

Website cookies and tracking

This site does not include tracking scripts, analytics integrations or application-set cookies.
